This reminds me of desire paths that cut against the grain of intended walkways. They can be seen everywhere. In a field near a school that people walk to a nearby road. On a street that has been plowed free of snow where people have avoided deep snow. Where a barber walks around a pedestal chair while cutting the hair of clients. It is the unconscious choices that shape the larger behaviours in communities and society.
